Blogging on the move …

with 2 comments

Recently I got myself a new mobile handset, Sony Ericsson W350i. Last night I got the internet configured on it. Got the basic apps like GMaps, GMail and Gtalk downloaded to it. Browsing through the various options found two cool thingie in it. First the RSS feed option, you just need to add the feeds to it and it keeps on updating on the go 😮 Next is the Blog this feature. You take a picture, on the go add your text and subject on the phone itself and publish it, and in seconds its there on Blogspot…

I took some pics and posted them here. I know most phones now a days have these features, but was really surprised to see it on a phone worth just 5k, guess technology is getting cheaper, faster than I thought 🙂 The Blog this feature is something that I wished on my mobile phone. The only drawback, I can post them only on Blogspot not on WordPress.

This morning while trying to had to label a new disk with different geometry I needed to convert KBs to GBs, and that neede to be “accurate” you just cant divide by 1000 as 1 MB = 1024 KB. So needed some help, as usually I went to the ver trustworthy, GOOGLE 🙂 After some research found this website which had an online storage calculator which worked. But it had some thing interesting … just take a look at the below image

zottabytes

Whats interesting is the last column “Yottabytes”, one Yottabyte = 1125899906842624 !!! Thats too much atleast for me …

Remember, when Bill Gates launched DOS it had 4 MB of memory on it, and Mr Gates said “No one ever will need more memory” and we say today … Yottabytes here we come 🙂

Promote / Review – Google Search

with one comment

Just saw these two cool new buttons on the google search page “Promote” and “Remove”. Google has temporarily rolled out this new feature to personalize user searches. When you are logged into your google account and then search for a keyword all searches results will have these buttons, these can then be used to prioritize or personalize your search. You click on promote and the search tops the list, and the next time you search for the same keyword you find your promoted searches on the top. Although Google has said that this is an experiment and will last for a few days only it is certainly a whole new way of “googling”

This may help wash out bogus search results by people themselves, but it also poses the threat of spammers manipulating the the search method. Remember the Google bomb (George Bush’s Misearable failure) 🙂 Though Its too early to guess out its implications, but with everyone customising their search, folks at google are going to take note of whats hot and whats not.
